Hanatouro, winter fun in Kyoto

Each year in early December, the Arashiyama/Sagano region will be lit up with lanterns (called touro). Winter in Kyoto officially begins with this event, called Hanatouro.

Those temples that are famous for their breath-taking autumn foliage and the bridge & bamboo pathways will be beautifully illuminated. If you are lucky, you could see snow covered gardens. Hanatouro will last for 10 days.
